We start of this years Best in Urban list with floating tears. Jacob Banks gave us goose bumps all over and made sure we were listening teary eyed to this huge emotional ballad. Wow, this is so amazingly perfect and oh so good. Jacob delivers!

15. Snakehips ft. Anne-Marie & Joey Bada$$ – Either Way

Snakehips is famous for it’s incredibly good collaborations. They even scored the number one in our list two years ago thanks to the perfect “All My Friends” featuring Tinashe and Chance The Rapper. This year they have to be happy with a 14th spot in the list. The song itself is so well produced and so unique in it’s kind. The DJ duo is responsible for the feel-good-summer-beats, Anne-Marie delivers the smooth, seductive vocals and Joey Bada$$ makes sure the song has a bit of spice to it. “Either Way” is just amazing.

14. N.E.R.D. ft. Rihanna – Lemon

Lyrics on fire. Video on fire. Rihanna’s appearance on fire… or can we just call it a volcano? Oh, and another question; why isn’t this song a huge top 10 hit yet? We mean, like common!

13. Post Malone ft. Quavo – Congratulations

Instead of letting us speak we give the word to the hitmaking man himself. “I dreamed it all ever since I was young. They said I wouldn’t be nothing. Now they always say, “Congratulations”. The patience paid off for Post Malone and Quavo. The year 2017 was definitely a year to never forget for mister ‘Stoney’.

12. DJ Khaled ft. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller – Wild Thoughts

It’s thanks to Rihanna that DJ Khaled got such a jam in his hands. Her attitude with the matching lyrics are pure perfection. And let’s be honest; who else than Miss Rihanna could’ve delivered it like this? “Naked, naked, naked!”. This was for sure our summer jam this year. In case you’re wondering why it didn’t make the Top 10, we love it, we really do. But that Santana sample was just not necessary and actually quite annoying if you ask us.

Good move, this has to be our favorite from the “Do It Again” hitmaker. Can we just sing-a-long to this as loud as possible please?

Mabel finally scored her first top 10 hit this year. Together with Kojo Funds she gave us the most unique dancehall inspired track. What makes it unique? The young singer manages to deliver a quite soulful and calm dancehall infused song with “Finder Keepers”. Usually mainstream dancehall means pumping beats, booty shaking tunes. But not for the amazing Mabel!

The top of our list is mainly dominated by American artists. Thank god Stefflon Don is here to represent England and Holland. That’s right, the singer and rapper lived in Holland for ten years! Together with French Montana she managed to score her first big hit with “Hurtin’ Me”. A very well deserved breakthrough. The song is oh so catchy! It makes you feel good, makes the temperature rise and most of all; it makes you wanna dance!

5. Sevyn Streeter – Before I Do

Yas Sevyn! One of our favorite singers finally released her debut album. It was about damn time Sevyn Streeter gave us what we wanted. One of the singles from the album is the stunning “Before I Do”. It’s one of those songs you want to sing-a-long to as loud as possible. Pluspoints for the “It Won’t Stop” singer to keep soulful slow jams alive!

Cardi B is without any doubt the surprise of the year. Thanks to her participation in real life TV nobody actually expected her to be the superstar she is now. The rapper proved everyone wrong with het huge number one hit song “Bodak Yellow”. She raps, “Said, lil bitch, you can’t fuck with me if you wanted to!”. No lies about that! Cardi managed to break multiple records. With the most important one being that she is the first female in hip-hop to score a number one as a solo artist since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop”. Impressive! Just like the rest of the world she stole our heart. How couldn’t we name this the number one song of 2017?
